ICT Officer

Position Summary

The primary role of the ICT Officer is being responsible for maintaining the university’s IT infrastructure, providing technical support to staff and students, and ensuring smooth operation of digital services such as email, Wi-Fi, finance systems, and online learning platforms. The role blends technical expertise with user support, making them central to the university’s digital ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Systems Management

  • Oversee the campus-wide computer network
  • Maintain Wi-Fi services, cloud storage, backups, and security systems.
  • Ensure the finance system, email servers, and telephone systems are operational.
  • Monitor and troubleshot connectivity issues across the university.
  • Verify functionality of hardware and software components.
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems networks, printers and scanners.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades.
  • Restricting access to unauthorized sites, downloads and users.
  • Repairing equipment and replacing parts, checking computer equipment.
  • Reports to the ICT Administrator/Manager

Technical Support & Helpdesk

  • Provide first-line technical support to students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, or in person.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with hardware, software, AV equipment, and telecommunication systems.
  • Assist users in accessing and using educational software and online learning platforms.
  • Setting up of Computer LAN for new staff while providing solutions to IT matters concurrently.
  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving software and hardware faults.
  • Maintaining records of software licenses

Training & User Assistance

  • Conduct computer training sessions for students and staff.
  • Help users adopt new technologies and digital tools for teaching, learning, and administration.
  • Promote digital literacy within the Pasifika community.
  • Setting up accounts for staff, educate them on log in and resolve issues arising.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely and via phone.

Data Security & Backup

  • Implement and monitor data protection policies.
  • Ensure regular system backups and safeguard sensitive university information.
  • Maintain compliance with ICT best practices and university regulations.

Operational Support for Events

  • Provide ICT support during university events, seminars, and workshops.
  • Set up and manage audio-visual equipment and digital communication tools.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the direct report i.e. ICT Administrator/Manager.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/bachelor’s in computer science or a related filed.
  • 2-3 years ICT support, networking, or system administration.
  • Networking, servers, cloud, backups, cybersecurity, helpdesk support
  • Communication, training ability
