Position: Kindergarten Teacher

Position Title of Immediate Supervisor: Fa’atere

  1. Prime function/purpose of the position

The position is responsible in carrying out activities, duties, and tasks necessary to ensure that the kindergarten operates at the highest possible levels of care and professionalism. And is a safe, engaging learning space for children away from home.

  1. Operational Responsibilities

 1. Daily duties commences at 8.00am We are at work by 7.00am to ensure that we meet the children who are coming to school by 7.45am.

  1. Ensure that the veranda is swept and mopped prior to the arrival of children
  2. Prepare lesson according to the Topic of the week

 4. Have a devotion service

  1. Carry out group discussions – these discussions with the children include the topic, color, number and alphabet for the week
  2. Children then carry out activities corresponding to the topic of the week

 7. Recess – children are supervised whilst they are eating.

 8. Whilst children are eating preparations of reading materials are also completed.

  1. A story is read to children according to the topic of the week

10. Music, movement, rhymes, and song activities

11. Free plays e.g. painting, puzzles, blocks, and games

12. Pack play materials and children that go home at 12.00pm leave.

13. We prepare for the children that remain and stay the whole day until 4.00pm (Feed, Clean prepare sleeping area and also clean sleeping area. Keep a watchful eye over the children whilst they are asleep.

14. We prepare for the next day’s activities. We review our day’s work.

15. Cleanup of school venue whilst children are asleep

16. When children wake up, we take them through activities again e.g. painting and free play

17. Children leave at 4.00pm

18. When children have left, we prepare reports and observations during the day. We assess work targets for the day against actual work completed. And ensure that work variance is completed immediately the next day.

Qualifications/requirements

  1. Qualifications in early childhood especially pre-school education teaching & learning
  2. Proficiency in the English Language
  3. Direct and related work experience
  4. The position advertised is also the Head Teacher of the Kindergarten and the person selected must have excellent Public Relations acumen and standing.
  5. Must submit a Letter of Application inclusive of an updated Curriculum Vitae
  6. Must provide a written example of a proven sample of work done in a previous assignment.
  7. Must provide contacts of two Referees
  8. Must be Medically cleared
  9. Must produce a non-adverse Police Report
