Scholarship Program

Women in Ministry (WIM) Scholarships through UnitingWorld

Two (2) tuition-only scholarships are available for women training for ministry. This funding is made possible through a joint initiative between member churches of PCU and UnitingWorld (Australia), which supports women in accessing positions of leadership within the church. The WIM programme provides financial assistance for women’s theological training; fosters a mentoring and support network for women leaders and theologians in Pasifika; and facilitates the engagement of Pasifika women church leaders in activities in areas of shared interest with the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA). The primary goals of the project are to empower Pasifika women through theological education and to encourage Pasifika churches and communities to provide new opportunities to reStory the gender narrative both in Pasifika and globally.

Churches Initiative for Pasifika Scholars (CIPS) Scholarships

Three (3) CIPS scholarships are offered in partnership with Evangelische Mission Weltweit (EMW) – the Association of Protestant Churches and Missions in Germany. The aim of the CIPS scholarship programme is to equip academically promising Pasifika students and scholars for contextual academic leadership, teaching, and research in higher theological education at colleges throughout the Pacific. It also seeks to assist in their formation as transformative leaders within the global church, wherever they may serve in the future. CIPS scholarships may also be used for ‘faculty development’ for PCU. These are annually renewable, multi-year scholarships that support candidates for the duration of their PhD programme. Tuition-only or tuition-plus-expenses scholarships are available, depending on student need and partnership support from member churches.

Diefenderfer Grant Scholarship for Northern Pasifika Scholars

One (1) tuition-only scholarship is available for a Master’s student, made possible through the Diefenderfer Grant from the Hawai‘i Conference Foundation and the Hawai‘i Conference United Church of Christ. This scholarship is intended for students from member churches in under-served communities in the Northern Pacific – including from the Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Palau, Guam – who are pursuing Master’s studies at PCU. The scholarship is renewable annually and covers tuition only. It is expected that living and travel expenses will be supported by the respective member churches.
