Summary

Position: Fa’atere (Registrar/Director of Operations)

Placement: Executive Position

Duration: A term of 4 years, renewable for only 1 term

Strategic goal: For the university to functions effectively, one of the essential goals is the effectiveness and efficiency of its operations. Particularly, its systems of registrations and data analysis; institutional registration and accreditation; and data recording and storage. The goal is, therefore, to ensure that these essential mechanisms of the university are appropriately and well established are functioning, and are servicing the needs of everyone – toloa (students), Facilitators of Learning (FOL), staff, communities, and external registration and accreditation agencies.

 

Key tasks:

  1. Act as the Director of operation for the University;
  2. Act as a Secretary of the Uli (Executive Board) and Vaatele (Council) and responsible for organising these meetings;
  3. Responsible for producing reports on the University operation both to the Uli and Vaatele to be submitted to the office of the Manu Folau;
  4. Act a Chair of the Appointments Kilaak and responsible for the recruitment process for the whole University in collaboration with the HR office;
  5. Responsible for the institutional accreditation of the University with Higher Education Commission of Fiji and other related regional and international accreditation forums;
  6. Assist in producing the ten (10) years PCU strategic plan, including its vision, goals and strategies, for the PCU operations to begin in January 2026;
  7. Efficiently manage the university’s ‘Technology and Systems Management’ ensuring data integrity and security;
  8. Responsible for the data hub for all University data, statistics, and research analytics to assist with institutional strengthening and growth, including reporting institutional data to external agencies, such as accrediting bodies and government organizations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations;
  9. Responsible for Institutional Audits, Evaluations, and reviews and the management of the Risk Registrar for the University;
  10. Responsible for developing and updating the University institutional profile;
  11. Act as Acting Manu Folau and may represent the University in public upon the Manu Folau’s approval;
  12. Responsible for the development of the annual Information Guide for the University;
  13. Responsible for the pastoral side of the University, organising pastoral groups, and other pastoral matters in collaboration with the University chaplain;
  14. Coordinate with the Academic Dean the graduation process;
  15. Responsible for all regional Campuses and Delivery Centres of PCU;
  16. Member of the Audit and Risk Kilaack and Finance and Investment Kilaak;
  17. Assist the Manu Folau with fundraising for the University;
  18. Reports to the Manu Folau.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Holds a Masters degree from an internationally recognised higher education institution
  2. Well grounded in values-based education
  3. Minimum ten (5) years in executive senior management positions in University level.
  4. Minimum ten (10) years of creating and reviewing policies, and organizational cultures in educational institutions
  5. Proof of work in the fields of decolonial studies and/or indigenous studies and methodologies
  6. Proof of work in holistic communities-based approaches to learning with some emphasis on justice-oriented pedagogies and transformative education
  7. Good and quality track record of academic research and publication with international recognition
  8. Commitment towards disadvantaged people and grassroot indigenous communities
  9. Passionate to promote the ‘Whole of Life’ vision of the University

Salary Package – $95,094.44 Fiji dollars plus housing to be provided in the University campus value at $60,000.00 Fiji dollars per annum.

Probationary perioda one (1) year probationary period until the candidate completes the communities cultural immersions, the Pasifika Philosophies course, and leadership training. A review process will take place before 12 months is over to determine the confirmation of position.

1. Strategic goal

For the university to functions effectively, one of the essential goals is the effectiveness and efficiency of its operations. 2. Strategic responsibilities

The strategic responsibilities and deliverables are as follows

  • Director of Operation: Manages the management and operational work of the University;
  • Internal Audit and Managing Risks: Responsible for internal audits, analytics, and analysis of risks and creating mitigative mechanisms to provide solutions for the sustainability of the University;
  • Data Management: Oversees the maintenance and updating of the digital storage system for the University data hub, University files, partners profiles, MOUs, registrations, alumni, and other files;
  • Institutional profiling: Responsible for creating and updating the profile of the University for public and strategic partnership information including documents that involve general information about the University;
  • Institutional accreditation and registration: Ensures PCU’s institutional registration with the Higher Education Commission Fiji, and with similar bodies in the region where PCU programmes are or will be delivered. This includes monitoring PCU’s accreditation map including reporting academic data to external agencies, such as accrediting bodies and government organizations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Graduation and Degree Audits: Coordinates the graduation process, including the certificates and degree audits to verify that toloa have met all requirements.
  • Technology and Systems Management: Oversees the use of information systems related to student records, ensuring data integrity and security;
  • Campus management: Responsible for the management of the different campuses of the University;
  • Pastoral care: Responsible for the pastoral life of the University;
  • IMPORTANT: Ensure that all of these proposals and systems are framed in the spirit of the ‘whole of life’ vision and the vakamaraqeti nai yau bula philosophy of care[1].
