We convened a high-level, one-day workshop exploring The Ethics of Australia’s Shared Responsibility for Pacific Climate Displacement. Bring together government delegates, NGO leaders, and academic experts, the dialogue focused on integrating national Pacific perspectives and underlying moral values directly into policy design.
Key Highlights:
Grounded Start: Manu Folau, Rev. Upolu Vaai opened the workshop, anchoring our reflections in Pasifika philosophies and the foundational ethics of displacement.
Deep Dives: Panels explored legal theory, political philosophy, and practical mobility policy, with a special emphasis on Tuvalu’s ongoing realities.
Academic Partnership: Co-convened with vital support from representatives across The University of Melbourne, Monash University, and The University of Sydney.
Addressing climate displacement requires more than technical solutions it demands ethical accountability, shared responsibility, and centered Pacific leadership. Thank you to everyone who made this workshop so transformative.
