The Toloa’s were welcomed with open arms by the UNDP team for a meaningful Talanoa session today. At the heart of the conversation was the Pasifika Futures Report, a bold, visionary roadmap crafted by Pacific voices for Pacific futures. It outlines transformative pathways for sustainable development, resilience, and cultural integrity across the region. The Toloa’s discovered how UNDP is weaving these aspirations into real-world impact across the region. UNDP’s work is anchored in three transformative pillars:
Effective Governance
Empowering Pacific nations to lead with integrity, transparency, and cultural wisdom—ensuring that leadership reflects the people it serves.
Inclusive Growth
Driving economic progress that’s not just about numbers, but about nurturing communities, uplifting youth and women, and honouring the Pacific way of life, and
Resilience & Climate Action
Standing firm against rising tides—literally and figuratively. UNDP is helping build climate-smart communities that protect land, ocean, and legacy for generations to come.
The report’s metaphors—like the hermit crab leaving its shell—have resonated deeply, inspiring Pacific communities to embrace change while staying rooted in their identity.
The Talanoa ended with a hearty lunch and more sharing.
